Covenant Wealth Strategies is eager to give back to the community that has blessed them in so many ways. “We consider it a privilege to support our community and serve those around us,” says G. Ward Keever IV, CLU, ChFC, RHU, AEP, CFS, AIF, CKA, president and CEO of Covenant Wealth Strategies.
Keever founded Covenant Wealth Strategies in 1999 from humble beginnings in Wilmington, Delaware, and serves clients across the country. The firm has grown to 10 employees who, as of October 2018, service approximately $207 million in brokerage and advisory assets through LPL Financial. Keever has plans to keep growing and remaining a good corporate citizen.
Covenant Wealth Strategies recognizes its clients’ birthdays each month by sending donations to several charities in their honor, including: Door of Hope, Sunday Breakfast Mission, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Urban Promise, InterVarsity, Young Life, The Well, Faithful Friends, Friendship House, Junior Achievement, Castaway Cats, Doxie Rescue of Bucks County, Delaware Puppy Rescue, Toys for Tots, Kind to Kids, Reading Assist Institute, Food Bank of Delaware, Wounded Warrior Project, and Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation.
“There is no better way of celebrating our clients than to support the community that we live in together,” says Keever.
As part of their extensive community outreach, the team at Covenant Wealth Strategies trades their suits for boots to partner with Good Neighbors during their annual work day. They assist with repairing and upgrading the homes of aging, disabled or economically challenged residents. “Restoring hope by restoring homes,” the charitable organization Good Neighbors Home Repair advocates, reminding that poverty affects well over 100,000 people in Chester and New Castle counties.
Covenant Wealth Strategies recognizes Good Neighbors as a compassionate ministry that exists to help those in need. “We are honored to serve and be part of a greater cause. We understand that unfortunate circumstances can occur for some and we want to be there to help,” Keever says.
In addition to local involvement, Keever and his wife, Debbie, have taken their service and outreach far outside of the Wilmington area. They’ve traveled to Romania to lend a hand to that country’s impoverished population, returning with an even greater commitment to serve their own community. “Endless possibilities for good abound when faith and financial expertise are merged,” Keever says.
Trustworthy stewardship
The values the firm holds outside of the office are also true inside the office. When Keever founded Covenant Wealth Strategies, he did so with the principles of three core biblical passages in mind. Today, those very same principals direct how Covenant Wealth Strategies operates.
“A key part of our business is the concept of stewardship,” Keever tells Equity. “A steward or a manager is not the same thing as an owner. We are entrusted with our clients’ assets or wealth that might be time, relationships or capital. Our jobs are to make every effort to strive to make them grow.”
Keever’s already impressive wall of citations was recently enhanced with the Certified Kingdom Advisor® designation, granted by Kingdom Advisors®.
This designation is for financial advisors who have proved to be technically competent, practice good stewardship and have demonstrated a high standard of ethical excellence, while having the ability to apply biblical wisdom as advice. “Our firm’s values and approach were built on core biblical principles over 18 years ago and are what have enabled us to stay true to our mission: As our client’s most trusted advisor, the team at Covenant Wealth Strategies is a catalyst; striving to build financial security, see dreams fulfilled and create enduring legacies. This new designation will allow us to enhance the way we deliver trusted financial guidance and be stewards of resources that belong to our multigenerational clients,” Keever says.
Financial literacy
More than ever before, Keever sees a need for education and financial literacy among the general population. Central to Keever’s leadership style, he instills the importance of cultivating his clients’ financial knowledge.
Keever works with retirement communities, answering questions about charitable causes the residents support. He also shares his Charitable Giving Strategies presentation, focusing on how to incorporate effective strategies into their giving plans.
As Keever explains, “It all comes down to this; the best financial decisions are made within the context of a thorough and complete understanding of a client’s circumstances. It requires the advisor to be transparent and provide education to the client so that they can make an informed and educated decision. I’ve spent 29 years in this industry and I believe there’s a need for what we do, how we do it and why we do it. We’re growing at a steady rate as people see us not as a low-cost provider but a high-value provider. The team at Covenant Wealth Strategies greatly appreciates each opportunity to serve their clients and give back to the community.”
Securities and advisory services are offered through LPL Financial, a registered investment advisor. (Member FINRA/SIPC. LPL Financial is a separate entity from Covenant Wealth Strategies and Good Neighbors).
